English is a West Germanic language that originated from Anglo-Frisian dialects brought to Britain in the mid 5th to 7th centuries AD by Anglo-Saxon settlers. It is named after the Angles, and is most closely related to Frisian and Low Saxon. English has developed over the course of more than 1400 years. The earliest forms of English, a group of West Germanic (Ingvaeonic) dialects brought to Great Britain by Anglo-Saxon settlers in the 5th century, are collectively called Old English. Middle English began in the late 11th century with the Norman conquest of England and the subsequent ' Normanisation' of the English language. Early Modern English began in the late 15th century with the introduction of the printing press to London, the printing of the King James Bible and the start of the Great Vowel Shift.
Introduction to Russian Language
Russian is an East Slavic language, which is the most widely spoken of the Slavic languages. It is the official language of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan, as well as being widely spoken in Ukraine, Latvia, Estonia, and other former Soviet states. Russian belongs to the family of Indo-European languages and is one of four living members of the East Slavic languages, the others being Belarusian, Rusyn, and Ukrainian. Russian is also the second most widely spoken Slavic language, after Polish.
Comparative Analysis of English and Russian
